Arrow Airport Extreme (802.11n): Base station displays a flashing yellow LED (light).

This was listed as a "hot topic" at the Apple AirPort Solutions page.

Issue or resolution

An Airport Extreme (802.11n) base station may display a flashing yellow LED (light) in some situations.
Products affected
  • Airport Extreme (802.11n)
Solution

A persistent, flashing yellow LED can mean several things, such as a disconnected Ethernet cable, invalid IP address, or other.

To find out more about the issue that's causing the light to blink:

1. Open AirPort Utility.

2. Double-click your base station. A summary window appears.

3. In the Base Station status section, you should see a yellow circle icon next to the word "error".

4. Click the yellow circle icon for more information. Resolve the situations until there are no more issues listed, or click the checkbox if you wish to ignore the warning and stop the LED from flashing.

Note: You must reset the base station using the reset switch to re-enable checking for the conditions you ignored.

5. Click Update to apply your changes.

6. The base station will restart.

7. If the yellow LED continues to blink, repeat the above steps.
