Default Intel® PROSet Utility - How Do I Connect?

How Do I Connect to a Wireless Network Using the Intel® PROSet Utility?



1. Configure the Intel® PROSet utility to connect to the wireless network.



To connect to a wireless network using the Intel PROSet utility, perform the following steps:



NOTE: If you do not know which utility is managing your wireless adapter, refer to Dell Knowledge Base Article:307701 - "How Do I Determine Which Utility Is Managing My Wireless Connection?"



1. Double-click the Intel PROSet Wireless icon located on the bottom right-hand corner of your screen next to the system clock. (Figure 1)




The Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless window appears.


NOTE:If the Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless - Wireless is turned off. "Enable Radio" below to enable wireless networking, window appears, perform the following steps:





2. Click the Enable Radio button, and then click to check Enable Radio from the drop-down menu.

3. When the The Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless Network Connection is still disabled window appears, press the Fn+F2 keys or slide the wireless ON/OFF switch to the ON position. Depending on which portable type you have.

4. Click to highlight the Network Name or SSID that you want to connect, and then click the Connect button. (Figure 2)


5. The You are connected to "Network Name or SSID" message appears.



NOTE:The Wireless Security Password (Encryption Key): window appears if security is enabled on the wireless network. If this window is seen, refer to the following Dell Knowledge Base Article:
294829 - "How Do I Connect to a Secure Wireless Network Using the Intel PROSet Utility?"

NOTE:If the Network Name or SSID is not seen, or if you are connecting to a non-broadcasting wireless network, refer to the following Dell Knowledge Base Article:
294831 - "How Do I Connect to a Non-Broadcasting Wireless Network Using the Intel® PROSet Utility?"

The You are connected to "Network Name or SSID" message appears, where "Network Name or SSID" is the name of the wireless network or SSID.




NOTE:If the You are connected to "Network Name or SSID"message does not appear, move in clear line of sight and within 10-20 feet of the wireless router.
