Default Wireless speed with N routers

I need suggestions on how to achieve higher connection speed on a Vista notebook. I use a dlink n router and an intel AGN card. I updated the driver to the netwok card, changed the security to WPA2-Personal / AES. For a minute the speed went up tp 170some and immediately after it dropped to 39 whereas before the changes i was getting 54Mbps consistently. Any suggestions?

Mokri,

You will find these variations in speed are typical after making adjustments to router settings, especially with the wireless-n certification products.

I have similar issues when making adjustments and I find a re-boot and/or time usually help resolve these fluctuations.

You are getting 54mbps through that wireless-n router? Is the Intel card wireless-g?

Stuart.
