Post Free vs. Pay For Hotspots.

I have been receiving emails regarding free hotspots and pay for hotspots. In most cases informing me of locations which offer free hotspots but are not listed in the hotspots database provided here at WiFi.com.

The current database is for spots which you would need a passcode or an existing account to a wifi service provider to use the wifi connection at the listed location - Pay for, if you will.

I should have been more clear.. and a solution to the confusion will come soon.

There are many "free" hotspots. However, these spots are generally contingent upon being a paying customer of the location in which the wifi service is being offered. In this case you would not need to pay for wifi Internet service - i.e. Starbucks does offer this service - but dont get caught using or abusing (buy something or get booted!).

So, in addition to the Pay for database provided we will soon bring additional locations in which "free" wifi can be obtained. Now, this list will not be all inclusive as we cannot possibly know of all new or even existing wifi networks which are "free." However, we will do our best to offer you as many locations as we can find.

And if you know of wifi locations in your area which are "free," please feel free to list them in this thread or start a new thread: be sure and place "Free Hotspot - "X" in the title of your post. This will allow people to know what type of information you are providing and for what location. Thank you.
