Post Would You Like a Wireless Network Setup at Home?

If you do not currently have a wireless Internet network (WiFi) setup in your home and would be interested in having WiFi.com or a trusted partner come in and set on up for you, please indicate in this thread or through answering;

"Yes" for I would be interested,

"No" if you are not interested, or

"Dont Know" if you dont have an opinion yet (need to know more about what wifi can do for me - benefits and cost).

Thank you!

Based upon the overwhelming response we have received regarding setting up wireless Internet at home, we have decided to put together a pilot program - to test the waters, so to speak.

The program will work a little something like this:

1) We will provide the wireless Internet equipment, to include; wireless Internet router/access point and (1) wifi adapter to receive signal.

2) We will install one of two ways; a.) by physically coming to your location and setting up the network, or b.) sending you a self-installation kit.

Under both circumstances we would support the network if you should have issues related to equipment function or access. The self-installation kit would come with detailed, laymans, instructions about how to setup and secure your network using the provided equipment.

A support page will be available at WiFi.com for you to reference or ask questions about setting up or maintaining the network. If needed, we would also provide a support phone number.

Cost: For self-installation and one full year of support we would charge $30.00 over the cost of equipment. We plan on using wireless-g equipment, so you can expect to spend about $100 for the self-installation kit.

For full service installation (we come to your home and install) we would charge $50 over the cost of equipment. The same one full year support applies to this plan.

After the one year support date has passed you can chose to pay for an additional year of support at $15.00 per year.

Estimated costs: Self-install w/ one-year support - $100. Full service install w/ one-year support - $120. Extra years of support/per year - $15.

Our goal is to have you supporting your own wireless network without the use of our support. By using our resources here at WiFi.com and leveraging that first year of support, we hope to educate you enough to forgo any extra years of support.

In addition we would send you a message to inform you of firmware upgrades and instructions on how to install the new firmware when it becomes available. Firmware are software upgrades provided by the manufacturers of the wireless Internet equipment.

To sign up - We would create a web-based signup sheet in which you could select the type of equipment you would like to use on the network, or the WiFi.com recommended equipment. You would pay using a credit card through our secure system. Full service installations would have appointments setup within 24 hours. Self-installation kits would be sent out within 48 hours of order.

How is this sounding? Are you still interested?

I live in a remote area with only dial-up available for internet unless you want the expensive tower and/or dish up with high monthly fees. Other then your set up costs $130 what other costs are involved on a monthly/yearly basis?
